When we dream.....

I've been dreamin' some crazy dreams lately. Last week it was flying in a plane over a volcano that was about to erupt. The weird thing was I could feel the heat off the volcano if you can believe that. I saw the lava as we or whoever the other people in the dream were. The plane didn't crash and the volcano never erupted. Then there was last night. How often do you get two celebrities in your dream? LOL! The outgoing President George Bush was the first to appear in my dreams. I was outside and he asked me if I knew where some guy named Parnell might be. It had to do something about money LOL! There was also talk about Geoge getting plastic surgery. I was thinking to myself how will anyone recognize him at the next presidental inauguration LOL! I told him I didn't know where he was and off he went getting into a black sedan driving off into the sunset. LOL! I was thinking to myself where is his secret service because there was none. So much for that dream so on comes Jason Voorhees in the next part of my dreams. For those who don't know who he is LOL reference the day Friday the 13th LOL! I was in a house with no locks on the doors. I was trying to kill this hockey masked serial killer who we all know never dies because there is alway another sequel. People were trying to tell me that Jason was a paid Hollywood actor and I was like, "Um yeah and your from Crystal Lake!". This dude is a killer and he was trying to kill those who were in my dream. The last I remember was I was behind some plants with a shotgun pointed at the door waiting for him to come through the front door. He never arrived and I woke up......

IN THE WORDS OF COLIN POWELL

TIME FOR CHANGE AMERICA

I came upon a interesting article on the internet. There has been so much talk over the past two years about Barack Obama's our new President Elect ties to terrorists, Muslim faith and other non-sense. It comes to a point when you as American got to say enough is enough I have reached that point. The following is a story about Kareem R. Khan who was an American soldier serving his country in Iraq and also a Muslim by faith who lost his life fighting for you and me. He is buried in Arlington Cemetary in Virgina. Kareem is a hero! Seeming that he is Muslim by faith it's about time that you racist and radical hard-line Republicans put on a pair of combats go over to Iraq or Afghanistan give your life up for a chance to live the American Dream. It doesn't matter what faith you are in this country. Your faith doesn't deny your ability to have the opportunities that other Americans might have, live or dream. Kareem was a Muslim and that doesn't make him any diffrent from you and me. I don't hate him for the religion he has choosen. Whether Barack Obama is a Muslim I truely don't care whatever he chooses as a religion. HE STILL IS AN AMERICAN! It's time some of people in America get's over it's hatred fot Muslims, Arabs or people of others around the globe of diffrent races. It's time to heal America. IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE. Being a member of the United States military I'm proud to have President Elect Barack Obama as my Commander in Chief. I will serve my country as a proud American. This is a historic time in America. LET IT GO AMERICA IT'S TIME TO CHANGE!

When it came to a post-high school career decision, there was nothing Kareem R. Khan wanted to do other than join the Army.

Spurred by the Septermber 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, Khan, a 2005 graduate of Southern Regional High School, wanted to show that not all Muslims were fanatics and that many, like him, were willing to lay their lives down for their country, America. He enlisted immediately after graduation and was sent to Iraq in July 2006.

So when his father, Feroze "Roy" Khan, saw three soldiers walking up to his door on Monday, he knew what it meant.

Specialist Kareem Khan, 20, was killed with four others earlier this week when a blast destroyed a house he and members of his division, the Stryker Brigade Combat Team, were clearing in Baqouba, Iraq.

An interpreter and 12 soldiers were also injured in the explosion, the Army said.

"It's something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy," Feroze Khan, 49, said Thursday night at his home in the Ocean Acres section of Manahawkin.

Khan's faith in Islam is important now to his father and stepmother, Nisha Khan, because they want to make sure people in America know that Muslims like Kareem were willing to fight for their country.

"His Muslim faith did not make him not want to go. It never stopped him," said Feroze Khan. "He looked at it that he's American and he has a job to do."

The last package Nisha Khan, 40, sent her stepson included a necklace that had Kareem's name in Arabic, next to the word "Bismillah," which means praise to Allah.

In the Islamic tradition, last rites must be within a few days of death. Khan's funeral at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia is scheduled Thursday. The family will perform traditional Islamic rites at home and have a full military burial.

"Hopefully Allah will understand," said Nisha Khan.

Though his father "spoiled him rotten," according to both his dad and stepmom, Kareem was always a polite teenager, who respected his elders.

"For a teenager, he was a very obedient child," said Nisha Khan.

Feroze Khan's favorite memory is when Kareem used to wake up at 5 a.m. on weekends to accompany his dad at work at a local marina.

"Not many kids would get up at 5 a.m.," he said.

Khan was a football fan, rooting with his father for the Dallas Cowboys when games were televised. He also used to challenge his little stepsister Aliya, 11, to video games.

"He's really funny," said Aliya. "We used to play video games and sometimes we would play with my birds."

Nisha Khan said the two would spend hours sprawled out on the living room floor and sometimes Kareem would try to show Aliya how to do certain moves, and ended up taking over the controller.

Aliya said she looked up to her stepbrother and she was "really happy," when he came with her to class at Southern Regional Intermediate School during his leave last September. Afterward he accompanied her to the school book fair.

"I was proud," she said.

Kareem was a "total goofball," said Feroze Khan. The family used to send two large bags of Starburst candies in his care packages, because Kareem would pick out all the orange ones and leave the rest for his Army buddies.

He was also a big fan of the Disney World theme parks, as was the entire family. They would take at least one trip a year to Orlando, Florida, and the living room and dining room of the family's split-level home is filled with souvenirs from those trips, like a wall hanging of Cinderella, figurines of Mickey Mouse and Disney-themed snow globes.

Kareem was so crazy about Disney World that when he had a two-day leave following his graduation from Fort Benning, Georgia, the family immediately drove to Florida.

As a freshman at Southern Regional High School, Kareem enrolled in the district's Air Force Junior ROTC program. During his one year in the program, he proved to be a solid student and citizen, said Col. Michael Mestemaker.

"He was a good kid. He did whatever we asked of him," he said.

Stafford Mayor Carl Block said his "heart goes out to the family. We have been very pro-veteran in the past, and we'll surely follow this up immediately" by planning an official memorial for Khan.

Representative Jim Saxton, R-New Jersey, received word of Khan's death through Army officials on Thursday. "I express my deepest regrets for the family of Specialist Khan. His service to the Army and the 2nd Infantry Division is truly honorable. It's a sad loss for us all," he said.

Khan went to Iraq after spending a year at Fort Lewis in Seattle. He came home for two weeks in September 2006 and was supposed to be home permanently last month, but his tour was extended through the end of September 2007.

He was considering re-enlisting or going to medical school. He worked with a medic unit when he first got to Iraq, Feroze Khan said, and liked what they did.

When he came home to visit, he was happy to stay at home, even asking his mother, who lives in Maryland, to come up to New Jersey to visit.

"He has so much promise, he could've done anything with himself," said Joe Hawk, 42, of Bayville, who Feroze Khan described as a very special friend of the family.

Hawk said he saw Kareem grow from a little 10-year-old boy into a man.

"When he joined, his dad was devastated," said Hawk, "but I told him you can't fault him for that. His father raised him to give, and he gave his life."

Nisha Khan said seeing the soldier come to tell of Kareem's death was like nothing she's ever experienced.

"You see it in the movies, but you wouldn't know the emptiness of seeing them in your driveway," she said. In her grief, she blindly hit out at those bringing the news, she said. "He promised me he'd come home," she said, as Aliya held her mother close to comfort her.

"His dad is devastated," said Hawk. "Kareem was his life. A father shouldn't bury his child."

The most important thing to know, Nisha Khan said, is that Kareem lived up to the meaning of his name.

"Most excellent," she said.

WIL THE G.I. JOE

On November 4, 2008 America has a very important decision to make that will decide the fate of this great country. Never in the history of America has people been divided over who they will elect the next President of the United States of America. Will they choose Barack Obama or will they choose John McCain. I can't make that decision for you I'm just Wil the G.I. Joe. You, the people of America, must search your soul it's gut check time your VOTE could be the deciding factor in what direction this country will be heading towards another four years of the same failed Bush Republican policies now McCain's agenda or a great generational CHANGE that is taking form in a spark that ignites the inner being of every American that makes all of us feel alive again in Barack Obama. I, Wil the G.I. Joe, have been a Republican all my life until now. Today I stand before you not a Republican, nor Democrat or even a Independant but a proud AMERICAN serving my country in the United States Military. A lot of people have made a great deal about Obama's failure to place his hand over his heart during the playing of the National Anthem if that makes Obama un-American or less than patriotic I too am guilty of the same thing. The point is I love my country and I am patriotic but throughout my life I haven't place my hand over my heart but I do salute our flag in uniform. I've seen many American's do the same thing some don't even remove their hats during the process. Does that not make us American? The thing that is so great about America is this is the land of the FREE and in America people have the choice to show reverance to the American flag the way they interpret their own patriotism. I choose to say the pledge of allegiance rather than placing my hand over my heart when I'm out of uniform and when I'm in uniform I show respect the flag by saluting it. Before those of you who question Obama's patriotism maybe one should look at their own. Nobody is perfect not you or me. I know not every American places there hand over their heart cause I've seen it with my own eyes. What is an American? Isn't it ONE NATION under GOD? If that was true why is it that Americans are so divided spreading cries of hate and racial overtures. I recently had a conversation with an American white male who was voting for McCain and during that conversation he called Obama a MONKEY. What is this? Just another persons ignorance to what this country is about ONE NATION under GOD! Whether you white, black, blue, yellow, orange or any other color you might think one is never forget we our ONE NATION under GOD! It truely saddens me that many American's can't see past the racial barrier and promote HATE here in AMERICA. Even the Republicans can't get away from claiming Obama is a terrorist and is linked to terrorism abroad. I can't support a party that tries to incite the American people into such a hatred filled outlook on one person. What ever happened to ONE NATION under GOD? What do know I'm just WIL THE G.I. JOE!!!!! I endorse Barack Obama for the President of the United States of America.

A TRUE AMERICAN SOLDIER

It's not everyday you get to meet a to meet a true American soldier. In every community around the United States and around the world there are people protecting all of us from dangers abroad. That would be the American soldier. They might be in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Reserves, National Guard and etc. There are so many stories of bravery, heros and inspirational things. Likely those stories sometimes brings us joy, pain, tears, anguish, happiness and every other descriptional word in the dictionary. But what about the forgotten American soldier. The one who comes back from Iraq, arrives via a plane on American soil, not to cheers but laughter and mockery. No one knows his story or his plight in life. He walks through crowds with a noticable limp, his left eye is completely shut due to the fact he lost his eye, a scar all the way from his groin area up to the middle of his chest due to operations to remove shrapnel, noticable scars and deformities over his body. He walks through the crowd with a sense of pride, humility and yet the crowd still laughs at him. Don't they know his story. A discharged American War Veteran from the Marines coming back to nothing, no money, no place to live, no healthcare for his injuries and yet if he could do it all over again he would be right back over in Iraq or Afghanistan fighting for you and me. He doesn't have that option anymore like many war Veterans discharged due to their injuries. He like others has to wait for a system the VA healthcare system to take care of him until then he is own his own. What is he suppose to do now? Still walking through that crowd thinking about the other Brothers who he has lost in war over in Iraq, "Don't these people know I like others are putting our effin lives on the line everyday?". They continue to laugh as he limps through the crowd. It is such an American tragedy or injustice that people look upon other people without knowing their story judging them without merit. The American soldier finds himself living on the beach waiting for for a VA appointment that won't be for a week to look at his left eye. He says to himself, "All I want is my eye back!". Finally after two days of living on the beach the local sheriff finds him and tells him that he can't live on the beach anymore. He tells the sheriff his story about his plight in life now. It brings the sheriff to tears because he was once an Amercian soldier. The sheriff thanks him for his service to our country and he says to the sheriff, "Don't thank me for my service thank my Brothers the over 4,000 who die fighting for you and me.". The homeless American soldier leaves the beach and finds his way to a Casino. He hasn't ate in over two days. He walks through the crowd people chuckle, stare or move out of his way until he comes upon a young man. He stops and with a smile on his face says, "How are you? Where are you from?". The young man responds, "ALASKA and I'm doing wonderful and you?". The American soldier asks the young man if he could sit at his table. He tells him his plight in life now. The young man, who happens to be me, listens to his story. It the same story I've been telling all along. The American soldier has so much pride, he laughs and despite everything that has happen to him he still wants to go back to fight for you and me. I give him $20 bucks to goto the all you can eat buffet where he tells me he will camp out. He thanks me and tells me that he loves me. Off he limps back into that same crowd out of my life they still don't know his story, BUT I DO! There are so many War Veterans who have been discharged from military service who have falling through the cracks of the VA healthcare system. The military's motto, "Hurry up and wait" should never apply to these young men or women who fight in these wars for you and me. They should be taken care of before they are discharged from service to ensure that until they are able to get back on their feet they will be taken care of like other military members who are still active military. Thank you those who have lost your life serving this country, thank you those who are still fighting for you and me and GOD BLESS AMERICA the land of the free AND HOME OF THE BRAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

FAIRBANKS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME TURNS UGLY

FAIRBANKS — Several fights at the West Valley-Lathrop high school football game Friday night ended with at least three spectators in custody and several people injured or pepper-sprayed.

Lathrop High School canceled the remainder of the game, which was Lathrop’s homecoming, at the insistence of the Fairbanks Police Department, Lathrop principal Karen Gaborik said.

The skirmish began when multiple fights erupted inside Lathrop Stadium near the east chain-link fence, officers said. A larger fight then broke out on the street outside the fence around 9:35 p.m.

Sgt. Jeromy Lindhag, with an elbow turned bright red from road rash, said a “wall of people” came over the chain-link fence, and several police officers were assaulted when they approached the crowd.

Officer Jim Gibson said the police used pepper spray and “fisticuffs, toe-to-toe” to quell the brawl.

“We started wading in there to get to the center, to the main guys, and they started fighting us,” he said.

As late as 10:20 p.m., the Lathrop campus was still awash in confusion. A glass bottle was thrown into the parking lot and shattered. An unidentified man was yelling to officers, “My friend has his eyes coming almost out of his head! What am I supposed to do?”

The man was unavailable for comment as he walked away with the officers.

Gibson said at least three people were in custody, though no one has been charged yet.

Several witnesses to the fight declined to comment.

A school bonfire, which was planned to begin afterward, was canceled.

Gaborik said Lathrop students, students from elsewhere and non-students were involved in the fights.

“These big events are challenging,” she said. “So many times there’s so many people, and they’re not our students.”

Gaborik said there was little more the school or city could have done to prevent the incident, as the FPD, security guards and the Fairbanks Fire Department were already present.

“If there are people who want to be violent, I don’t know how we can prevent all of them,” she said.

Odette Butler, mother of 17-year-old West Valley player Matthew Hardy, was in the stands watching the game when, at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the announcement was made for everyone to leave the stadium.

“The announcer said the game will continue, but everything else will be canceled,” Butler said. “I was on the West Valley side, and you could see on the Lathrop side that everybody was running outside.”

Butler said she thought it was odd that spectators were told to leave en masse.

“I was afraid someone was shooting,” she said. “I saw one kid with handcuffs on him.”

The game was suspended with 10 minutes, 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter. When the clock stopped, play was supposed to resume without fans, but the game was called several minutes later. West Valley won, 38-6.

Butler said it was the best game West Valley has had in a while, and spectators were concerned as they left that they weren’t going have the opportunity of patting their kids on the back.

BARACK OBAMA ON MUSLIM FAITH

THE LAST RIDE

Next tuesday I will be officially retiring from the world of music. I've been a DJ in the nightclub scene for over a decade. I started my DJ career back in the early 1990's. I've seen many DJ's come and go in the local scene. Unless there is somebody I don't know about in our local scene here I will retire as one the longest running DJ's in the nightclub scene. I'm sure there were other DJ's who might of done it longer than me but for the past 14 years I've been the Ironman of DJ's in this town. LOL! Am I comparing myself to Brett Farve or Cal Ripken here? I think not but I know I have logged many hours and nights in a smoke-filled room entertaining people for years some say more than Sarah Palin has in public office LOL! I love music and enjoy seeing people have a great time at my expense. A legend in my own mind I will be passing the torch to the future or new breed of youth that are eager to make a name for themselves. I've always had aspirations to make it big in Hollywood something I regret not pursuing. It's not really about the fame, glamour, lifestyle or money that attracts me to such a place. It's about reaching an audience larger than one's own. Music has a healing effect on people. Depending on the song people relate to it in their own way. I've enjoyed spreading the gospel of music over the years reaching people in unique ways and touching one's soul in some cases leaving a lasting impression in ones's life. This is the end, the last ride and the completion of something I started long ago. Will there be a sequel? I've already starred in a trilogy. At this time the desire is no longer there nothing is igniting the flame. It's over and that's all she wrote!
